Ice Ice baby

Streetwise, icewise

It began in the mid-1970s in the hip-hop scene in New York's Bronx: hip-hop. The musical style was closely associated with African-American street culture and soon became visible in fashion as well. The style showed different variations over the decades, and so the hip-hop style went from the cool B-Boy look through the ultra-flashy "Ghetto Fabulous" to what we see today more as general casual fashion. In the process, this new fashion became widespread around the world and was also adopted by "white" populations.

That hip-hop style includes jewelry is obvious. Grills, nameplates, "chains," big rings, "doorknob" earbuds, piercings and tunnels. As long as it's big and set with lots of diamonds, which in slang is called "ice." But it should be clear that piercings and tunnels have long since ceased to be worn only by gangsters and rappers. Major fashion brands such as Dolce&Gabbana and Gucci, for example, have made chains, large gold chains, into style icons.

Nowadays, the piercing and tunnel is also a staple of the street scene. But to find a stylish piercing or tunnel made of high-quality materials is still a challenge. That is why we at The Gold Xperience ® now also make this category of jewelry, made of gold or platinum and set with the most beautiful gemstones: IceWise.
