Do's
- Are you right-handed? Then wear rings preferably on the left hand, this way you will have the least risk of damage.
- When not wearing a piece of jewelry, wrap it in a soft cloth and safely store the jewelry in a jewelry box.
- Bring your jewelry to The Gold Xperience once a year for inspection and maintenance. This applies especially to jewelry set with color stones or diamonds. In particular, rings with a chaton setting should be checked once a year.
- Over time, shiny jewelry becomes dull and matte jewelry becomes shiny. We can remedy this by repolishing or mattifying the jewelry. Such a service costs only €25.
- Be on time if you notice that the clasp of the jewelry no longer functions properly. We can repair the lock for you or make a new lock on your jewelry.
- If your pearls become dull, you can clean them with lukewarm water and gently rub them with a chamois leather cloth. Never use a chemical cleaner.
Don'ts
- Do not wear jewelry during rough work, in the garden or washing dishes, for example. Even from a diamond, the hardest gemstone, a hard bump toward a crystal surface can still cause a piece to pop off.
- Don't wear your jewelry while sleeping. Thin necklaces in particular can wear out faster as a result.
- When bracelets are too loose, they can easily get caught behind something.
- Preferably don't wear your jewelry on the beach, as sand chafes. If you choose to keep your jewelry on anyway, rinse it very well while showering.
- Be careful with makeup: the cosmetic substances do not affect the gold itself, but they can affect the secondary metals, making the jewelry less shiny. It is also possible that hand cream, for example, may activate certain acids in the skin that act on the jewelry.
- Pearls can even be damaged beyond repair by hairspray or perfume. Therefore, always apply creams, makeup and perfume first and only then your jewelry.
