The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is being handed 120 gold bars left on a train in Switzerland four years ago. Despite four years of searching, the owner of the bars has never been found.
A train employee found the plastic bag on a train from Sankt Gallen to Lucerne in October 2019. Inside it was a package marked "valuables ICRK." The contents: 120 small gold bars, which together weighed 4 kilograms. They now have a value of about 210,000 euros.
Authorities in Switzerland searched for the owner of the rods for nearly four years, but he was never found. There is also no reason to think there is a link to criminal matters.
Just three years ago, the prosecutor in Lucerne reported that the owner had five years to come forward. Yet it was determined yesterday that the gold bars will be sent to the Red Cross already. This was most likely the intention of the unknown owner, according to the prosecutor.
