Platinum ring with diamonds in rail setting
This ring was made especially for a customer.
The client came with a yellow gold ring that was sold as white gold with a layer of rhodium... and you guessed it: the layer of white comes off and you're left with a yellow ring. Diamonds simply sparkle best in a white metal so I advised the lady to have the diamonds set in a platinum ring.
So I made a new ring out of platinum and then I placed the diamonds in railsetting in the ring, that is, the diamonds lay tightly against each other in a groove that I drilled, milled and cut by hand. On the underside of the diamonds, that is, the inside of the ring, small square openings are cut so that the diamonds are optimally provided with light.
